It’s been observed, “Failure is one thing that can be achieved without effort.” I believe failure is one of the biggest fears that cripple most people from acting. We fear that we will fail at sharing our faith, or fail at church leadership, or even fail in the area of friendships. It is a problem that affects individuals, families, and even whole churches. We are so scared of failure that we chose to do nothing. It is at this point that we allow fear to rule over us and we allow to cause us to sin. We sin by being disobedient to God by doing nothing. However when we fear failure we are exhibiting a lack of faith. We are not trusting God with the outcome. It is at these moments that we need to stop and think about God. God is all powerful, God is good, God is faithful, and God controls all outcomes. When we are trusting in this truth, we can act fearlessly, even in the face of failure! If you are stepping out in faith to serve the Lord in any area, you will never be a failure. No the outcome may not be what you expected, but it is always what God intended. When the bumps in the road come, learn from them; ask God to teach you why you didn’t see success. But whatever you do, don’t give up. So don’t ever let the “what if’s” keep you from doing the “Thou Shalt’s”.
