Be Careful Before You Commit

It’s been said, “There’s no use to put your best foot forward if you drag the other one.” What a true statement that is about commitment. Many times we commit to do something fostake-a-claim-1187615-mr the Lord or our family or our health or (you fill in the blank) and we only give it good intentions. We set out to do our best, but past things drag us back. Sometimes we are just lazy and other times we have wrong priorities. Many times we are doing too much good stuff and are too busy to give our all to whatever we have committed to. Commitment requires dedication. Dedication requires honesty and integrity to fulfill what we have declared to do. Therefore, we must be careful to count the cost before we make a commitment. It would be wise for each of us to heed the words of Jesus. “For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it.” – Luke 14:28 NKJV
