It’s been said, “The man who invented the eraser had the human race pretty well sized up.” We would all have to admit that we simply make mistakes. There is a reason that “human error” is often factored in polls and charts. We are all flawed and limited in our abilities. Simply put we fall way short of perfection. However, what great joy it should bring all of us to know that God is in love with those who are less than perfect. It is so encouraging to know that God meets us in our imperfect, mistake ridden, flawed state and shows us mercy, grace, and love. We don’t have to be perfect to earn God’s love, nor do we have to stay perfect to keep God’s love. In our ever demanding world that expects all deadlines met, all facts correct, and all actions flawless, it is great to be reminded that God loves and uses us despite our shortcomings. As Christians we should strive to serve God flawlessly, but we should keep in mind God’s limitless mercy when we don’t.
